I never get tired of going to the beach, and now that it's almost summer again here in South Florida, that means longer days and more beach time! This brother and sister duo were ready to play as soon as they hit the sand. I absolutely loved how free spirited and playful these kids were. They are seriously so cute in every way and it was so much fun splashing around with them. You know you've had a successful session, when it's already getting dark out and the kids don't want to leave. Thanks to their mom for picking out the cutest outfits and giving me a great idea on making my own custom beach buckets! I love when other creative moms inspire me. I forgot my towel and change of pants, so it was a squishy ride home, thankfully home wasn't that far.

So I'm really, really behind with this blog post. Both my kids had birthdays. My second born, Riyah (pronounced Rye - Ya) turned one in October. Why not share with you all the sweetness she has to offer! The beauty about these outdoor photos is that it was totally unplanned. Often times with my own children, when I plan a "photo session" it rarely goes as planned (tired kid, weather isn't cooperating, lost perfect lighting opportunity, naps, the crankies kick in). One gorgeous Saturday laying around the house as we usually do on our day of rest, we decided to head to the park and have a little picnic. I grabbed my camera and a hair piece that matched her dress...just in case. Weather was beautiful, baby was happy and ultra smiley, and hubby was grilling his killer burgers! My son turned 5 this month...I'm blown away how quickly my baby boy has turned into a little boy. I'm really blessed because our Creator really amused us with the way He worked out the genetics and it's obvious which parent each child takes after. Both of them have my eyes and complexion, but my son Porter is the boy version of me and my daughter is obviously daddy's little girl! Obligatory cake smash those that know me, understand the I'm very involved in every detail of every photo session. this cake was homemade by yours truly! I'm SO thankful for pinterest and youtube videos for the awesome cake decorating tutorials! buttercream frosting made with all natural beet dye. My sister did a great job helping me keep my sanity as well ;) My big boy
I met this adorable family a couple years ago and I get so giddy every time they schedule a session with me. When I plan a photo session, it's not just about picking a date, time, location and showing up with my camera. I envision the perfect lighting, the fun conversations, the possible props and my mental shutter starts going off! Lots of planning with wardrobe and location go into my stylized sessions. This gorgeous lady plans out her family's outfits and I enjoy that she shares her vision with me. Summer is drawing to an end, so we wanted to capture some family photos enjoying a picnic before the little miss started kindergarten. If you have a totally creative or crazy (good crazy, lol) idea for a portrait session, shoot me an e-mail, I would LOVE to help you work out all the details and can give you ideas as well.
It's very difficult when family members live in different states or countries. Family reunions or vacation visits are a great time to get your family photos done. I love this family, it was so nice to meet and see siblings and cousins gather. So happy they allowed me to share an evening with them.
